Mrs Henry Stegeman, 86, Orange City, died Wednesday in Heritage House at Orange City after a long illness.
Services were at l0 a.m. Friday in the American Reformed Church at Orange City. The Rev. Calvin Rynbrandt officiated. Burial was in Pilgrim Home Cemetery at Holland, Mich., under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
Mrs. Stegeman, the former Gertrude Hoekje, was born Nov. 26, 1890, in Rotterdam County, Kan. She was married to the Rev. Henry V.E. Stegeman July 12, 1917, at Holland.
The Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Stegeman were missionaries to Japan before World War II. Later, they both were instructors at Orange City Academy which is now Northwestern College. Mrs. Stegeman taught Latin at the academy until retiring several years ago. The Rev. Mr. Stegeman died in 1954 at Orange City.
Mrs. Stegeman was a member of the American Reformed Church at Orange City. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
