Fred Zalme, 60, of Ireton died Wednesday at Veterans' Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., after a several months illness.
Services were at l p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
There was a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dow Funeral Home.
Mr. Zalme was born Sept.17, l9l6 at Alton and married Eva Vande Pol on August 24, 1945. The couple lived in the Maurice area until moving to Ireton in l953. He was a police officer in Ireton for several years.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. George (Jeanette) Wakeman of Ireton and Mrs. Ron (Charlotte) Berger of South Sioux City, Neb.; a son, Duane of LeMars; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nick (annie) Jilderda of Sheldon, and four brothers, Bill of Alton, Charles of Wilmington, N.C., Gerrit of Spokane, Wash., and Marinus of Chicago, Ill.
