Rock Rapids-- The Rev. John Vos, 73, died Thursday at a Sioux Falls hospital of long illness.
Services were at 1:30p.m. Monday in First Reformed Church at Rock Rapids, The Rev. Wendell Pyle officiated. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery
under the direction of Jongewaard-Stapp Funeral Home.
Mr. Vos was born March 4, 1904, at Hull. He attended Northwestern Academy at Orange City and Central College at Pella. He was graduated from Western Theological Seminary at Holland, Mich.
The Rev. Mr. Vos married Bertha Smith June 1, l932, at McKee, KY. He was minister at Beverly Reformed Church at Grand Rapids, Mich., 12 years and at Silver Creek Reformed Church in Maple Lake, Minn. He also served as minister of Reformed churches in Leota, Minn., and Parkersburg, where he was instrumental in the building of a new church. He was minister of a Reformed church in Hawarden until his retirement in 1968 when he moved to Rock Rapids.
Survivors include the widow; a son Peter of Hinckley, Minn.; a daughter Mrs. Lawrence (Elizabeth) Van Lant of Lakewood, Calif.; a brother, Clarence of Kingsley; six sisters, Mrs. Greta Hommes of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Sylvia Lubbers of Orange City, Mrs. Maxine Kragt of Sheldon and Mrs. Rose Valentine, Mrs. Kate Humme and Mrs. Lillian De Leeuw, all of Hull; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
