Obituary: Hawarden, Iowa- Curtis Charles Baugus, 72, of Hawarden, died Monday, December 21, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Sunday with the family present from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.
Curtis Charles Baugus was born October 21, 1937 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Albert and Mattie (Nelson) Baugus. He attended school in Hawarden. Curt married Ardis Morehead on October 9, 1964. He worked construction and was a school bus driver for several years until he became disabled in 1980.
Curt loved to travel and enjoyed traveling with his wife and daughter to see his brother and nephews and nieces from Utah. He also loved visiting his cousins in South Dakota. His daughter and granddaughter were his pride and joy, whom he loved with his whole heart.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hawarden.
Curt is survived by his wife, Ardis of Hawarden; daughter, Debbie Moffatt and husband Stacy and granddaughter Hailey Moffatt of Akron, Iowa; 3 step grandchildren; brother-in-law, Roger Morehead of Rock Valley, Iowa; sister-in-law, Audrey Johnson and husband Vernon of Alcester, South Dakota; as well as many nephews, a niece, and cousins.Curt was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Albert Baugus, Jr. and Leonard Eddings.
