Mrs. John Nyhuis Sr. Passed away last week Thursday.
Mrs. John Nyhuis Sr. whom, we mentioned last week as being very ill, passed away at her home, Thursday afternoon, May 24th.
Mrs. John Nyhuis, nee Hendrika Willemsen, was born in Zutphen, in the Province of Gelderland, Netherlands in 1856. In 1888 she came to America with her husband John Nyhuis. They located in Sioux county and have lived here since. Mr. Nyhuis preceded her in death (1921) thirteen years ago.
She leaves to mourn her death, four children: Mrs. Jim Roggen of Sheldon; Mr. Gerrit Nyhuis of Doon; and William and Marie of Hull; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and also four sisters; Mrs. G. Sltohouber of Orange City; Mrs. D. J. Oosternink of Hull; Mrs. H. Vander Brake of Orange City; and Mrs. P. Van Meeveren of Tacoma Washington; and one brother Mr. Henry Willemsen of Sioux Center.
Funeral services were held Monday May 28th, in the First Reformed church and interment was made in the Hope Cemetery with Rev. G. H. Douwstra and Rev. R. A. Jager officiating.
(The marriage record of the Nyhuis's couldn't be found in then Netherlands. This family can be chronicled in the Willemsen book by the submitter)
