Mrs. James Roggen, (Hattie Nyhuis) 83, died Wednesday, December 26th, at the Sioux Center Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Roggen was born November 30, 1879 in the Netherlands. She came to the United States at an early age and was married to James Roggen February 22, 1900, near Sioux Center. They farmed near Boyden, Iowa several years before moving to Sioux Center in 1958. He died Dec 13, 1959.
Survivors include a son Gary of Sioux Falls; a brother Gerrit Nyhuis of Rock Rapids; five grand children and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral service were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home. Rev. Harry Brower, pastor f the First Reformed Church officiated. Burial was in the Hope Cemetery of Hull.
(Hattie Nyhuis was the daughter of John Nyhuis and Hendrika Willemsen. The family is chronicled in the Willemsen family history book done by the submitter)
