California DiesWord was received Friday morning of the death of Mrs. Jennie Harmsen, 64. of Artesia
Calif., former Hawarden resident, who died during the night after an illness of several months.Jennie Bonnema was born February 15, 1900, in Chicago and at the age of 7 moved to Iowa with her parents. She grew to womanhood in the Lebanon vicinity.
She married Jake Harmsen on August 26, 1920, and they resided in the Lebanon area, later moving to Hawarden. About 25 years ago they moved to California. Mr. Harmsen died on October 1, 1954.
Survivors include four sons, Ben, Richard, John and Jake, all in California, four daughters, Mrs. Wilson (Matilda) Riepma of rural Sheldon. Mrs. Barty (Cynthia) Van Dyke, Mrs. Henry (Alice) Douma and Mrs. Matt (Geneva) Andriesse, all of California; three brothers, Pete Bonnema of Hawarden, Dick Bonnema of Buena Park, Calif., and Henry Bonnema of Ireton; three sisters, Mrs. Pete Reinders of Hull, Mrs. Henry Niezen of Bellflower, Calif., and Mrs. Joe Vos of Sheldon, and several nieces and nephews in this vicinity.
Funeral services were held at Artesia with burial there. Attending from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vos.
