HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL

DICK TIMMER DIED AT HOME IN HAWARDEN SUNDAY

Was 66 Years Old and Lived in Sioux County 45 Years

Leaves Wife and Eight Children

Dick Timmer, a long time resident of Sioux county, died suddenly at his home in the northeast part of Hawarden about 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon from a heart attack. Mr. Timmer had been suffering from heart trouble for the past two years but recently had apparently been in better health than for some time past. Last Saturday night he complained of not feeling quite so well and Sunday afternoon suffered an acute attack. A physician was summoned but he died shortly after the doctor reached his bedside.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon at the Timmer home, with Rev. Bos of Sioux Center in charge. Interment will be made in the cemetery at Rock Valley.

Dick Timmer was born in the Netherlands Aug. 8, 1868, so was past 66 years of age. He came to America when he was 21 years old and located first at Sioux Center and for a number of years was employed on farms in the vicinity of Sioux Center and Rock Valley. Thirty years ago he was united in marriage with Gertie Haarsma at Rock Valley. They continued to live in that vicinity for a time and then moved onto a farm in Garfield township where Mr. Timmer farmed for himself for a number of years. Later the family moved onto a farm near Chatsworth where they made their home for eleven years. They then moved to Perkins where they resided for a couple of years and came to Hawarden about three years ago and have since continued to reside here. Mr. Timmer was a hard worker, a man of integrity and was esteemed by a wide circle of friends.

He is survived by his wife and eight children. One son, Albert, was killed in an automobile accident on Oct. 7, 1913, just twenty-one years to the day before his father's death. The surviving children are Mrs. Fred Beck, Hawarden; Mrs. Paul Shannon, Sioux City; Richard, a member of a CCC camp who had been at Lost Corner, Ark.; Henry Timmer, Craig; John Timmer, Mrs. Andrew Green, Fannie and Albert Timmer, all of Hawarden.
