Albert Scholten

Albert Scholten, 91, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, May 21, 1991, at the Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Norman A. Heukelom officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Scholten was born June 3, 1899, in Hull, the son of John and Malena (DeVries) Scholten. He married Nellie Olivier Jan. 20, 1921, in Hull. The couple farmed in the Hull and Rock Valley area until 1947 when they moved to Rock Valley. He sold Moorman Feed for several years. She died Dec. 6, 1989.

Mr. Scholten was an active member of the Rock Valley Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Marlys) Groeneweg of Rock Valley and Mrs. William (Ila) Dirksen of Ripon, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Violet Scholten of Tempe, Ariz.; two sisters, Carol Groeneweg of Rock Valley and Sadie Kempers of Sioux Center; 11 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
