LIFELONG MAURICE RESIDENT DIES

MISS ELLA MENSINK DIES, WEDNESDAY, JULY 14th

Miss Ella Mensink, 71, lifelong resident of Maurice died Wednesday, July 14, at the home of the brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. H.D. Oggel, with whom she had made her home the last 16 years.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, at the Dr. Oggel home. In the absence of the regular pastor, Rev. D. Laman, Rev. John Straks of Orange City, a former pastor, officiated.

Pallbearers were neighbors: Tom Swarts, Jake Anema, John Van Roekel, C. Van Maasdam, Stanley Campagne, and Harry Muilenburg. Burial took place in the Maurice cemetery, under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral home of Orange City.

Miss Mensink, who had been an invalid since suffering a stroke more than 30 years ago, was born at Maurice June 1, 1883. She was educated in the public schools there.

She was a charter member of the American Reformed church at Maurice and took an active part in its programs. When this church disbanded several years ago, she again affiliated with the First Reformed church.

Survivors are two sister, Mrs. H.D. Oggel and Mrs. George De Groot of Maurice and several nieces and nephews. One sister, Mrs. William Van Peursem, preceeded her in death two years ago.

Relatives and friends from Orange City attending the funeral were Rev. and Mrs. J. Straks, Rev. and Mrs. M. Duven, Mrs. Albert Popma, Mrs. C. Neal Dykstra, Mr. and Mrs. John Workhoven, Mr. and Mrs. Arie Raak, Mr. and Mrs. George Mieras, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Van Peursem, Miss Lucille and Philip Van Peursem, and Martin Van Peursem.
