John De Beer, 78, died November 25, 1980 at his home in Orange City, IA, following a sudden illness.

He was born May 23, 1902, in Tjummarum, The Netherlands, the son of Fedde and Akke (De Jong) De Beer. He came to the United States at the age of 9.

On February 4, 1927, he was married to Johanna De Vries near Orange City. They farmed near Carnes prior to moving to Orange City in 1968. He was a member of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include; two sons, Fred of Orange City, and John Jr. of San Diago, CA; five daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Darlene) Vander Aarde of Andhra Pradesh, South India, Mrs. David (Minerva)Van Peursem of Orange City, IA, Mrs. Kermit (Marilyn) Hoffs, of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Walter J. (Ruth) Wilson of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., and Mrs. Duane (Laura) of Holstein, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Tony (Stella) Bomgaars, Mrs. Andrew (Bertha)Docter, and Mrs. John (Martha) Schuller, all of Orange City, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife who died July 3, 1977, a son Peter, and a grandson, Leon Vander Aarde.

Service; November 29, 1980 at First Reformed Church in Orange City, IA.

Interment; West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, IA
