From The Sioux County Capital, Orange City, Iowa, February 3, 1938:

MRS. SUSAN MENSINK

Mrs. Susan Mensink, eighty-six, died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.D. Oggel of Maurice.

She was born in Wemeldinge, Zeeland, Holland, in 1852. At age two she came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mieras, and lived near Racine, Wis. The family then moved to Greenleafton, Minnesota, where she married Henry M. Mensink on March 16, 1875. In 1879, she with her husband and on child, came to Sioux County and located on a farm one mile east of Maurice. The family moved to Maurice in 1889. Mrs. Mensink was a charter member of the First Reformed church here. She also helped to organize the American Reformed church of Maurice in 1907.

He husband preceded her in death in January, 1930. Three children died in infancy. She is survived by four daughters Mrs. Will Van Peursem, Mrs. H.D. Oggel, Miss Ella Mensink, and Mrs. George DeGroot all of Maurice; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Fanny Van Wechel of Orange City, Mrs. Nellie Mieras and Mrs. Carrie Van Wechel of Yakima, Washington.

Funeral services were conducted Monday by Rev. Van Raalte at the home of Dr. Oggel and in the American Reformed church. Burial was made in the Sherman Township cemetery.
