Obituary: Harry Bonnema, Sr., passed away Sunday, February 11 at the Sacred Heart Hospital at the age of 55 years. He had been in failing health for the past two years. He was born June 24, 1895 in Chicago, Illinois. He came to this community with his parents when he was 14 years old and they farmed near Ireton. On January 23, 1917, he was united in marriage to Dora Mohlmann. They moved to LeMars 17 years ago. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, from the Wiltgen Luedtke Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. At St. John's American Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Reverend L.L. Belk officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery. Surviving is his wife, Dora, and the following children: Harry Bonnema, Jr. of LeMars, Mrs. Hilbert (Evelyn) Ludwigs, Orville Bonnema of SanDiego, California, Gerald Bonnema of Bremerton, Washington and Marlyn and Franklin at home. Also surviving; two brothers, Henry and Jerry of Chicago, his step-mother, Mrs. Effie Bonnema of Chicago, one step-sister and 4 step-brothers.
