Mr. and Mrs. Jake Talsma of Rock Valley held open house Friday afternoon and evening in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary. Over 100 persons attended the event. Flowers and telephone calls were received from their children in California. Gifts and cards were also received.

The Talsmas were born and married in the Netherlands and came to this country in 1913 settling in South Dakota. Afterwards they came to Sioux county where they farmed until 1946 when they retired. They spent several years in California and Michigan, and later settled in Rock Valley.

They have seven children, Harry, Mrs. Lawrence Huggitt and Mrs. Lee Beukelman, all of Bellflower, California, Mrs. Harry De Vries of Hudson, Mrs. George Oldenkamp of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Gerrit Doorn and Mrs. Merle Suter of Rock Valley. They also have 21 grandchildren.
