Pretty Wedding Solemnized At Lutheran Church

The Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden was the setting of a beautiful candlelight wedding solemnized at 7:30 Friday evening, June 7, when Miss Barbara Dimmick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Dimmick, became the bride of Kenneth L. Cain, son of Mrs. Lester Cain of Hawarden and the late Lester Cain. White peonies served as a background for the double ring ceremony at which Rev. O. F. Pittack officiated.

As Mrs. Ivoran Noe played "The Wedding March," the bride, given in marriage by her father, entered the church on a white carpeted aisle graced with candles and white bows. She was lovely in a beautiful white gown fashioned by her mother who made all of the gowns in the wedding party. The bodice was of Chantilly lace over satin featuring a sweetheart neckline outlined with tiny pearls and sequins. The skirt of nylon tulle and lace over satin extended into a chapel train. Her fingertip veil of tulle fell from a double crown trimmed with pearls. She carried a bouquet of red roses in cascade arrangement. Her only jewelry was a single strand of pearls, a gift from the groom.

Preceding the bride in the processional were Mrs. John Berg of Sioux City, sister of the bride, as matron of honor, and Mrs. Robert Hillrichs of Akron, sister of the groom, as attendant. They wore identical street-length gowns of blue chiffon over taffeta with medium blue cummerbund. They had matching head pieces and mitts and wore crystal jewelry, gifts from the bride. Their bouquets were colonial arrangements of white carnations. Sandra Cain, small niece of the groom, was charming in a dress identical to the attendants with a single strand of pearls and matching mitts and headpiece as she scattered rose petals from a hand crocheted basket.

David Berg, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer and carried the wedding bands on a white satin pillow edged with lace. He wore dark trousers with a white dinner jacket and black bow tie. Erlyn Cain, brother of the groom, acted as best man and Donald Dimmick, brother of the bride, was attendant. The men in the wedding party wore dark business suits with white carnation boutonniere. John Berg and Dallas Huebner served as candle lighters and ushers.

As the bride and groom knelt at the altar Mrs. Charles VerSteeg of Rock Valley sang "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Noe. The mother of the bride chose for her daughter's wedding a two-piece blue Shantung sheath with white accessories. The mother of the groom wore beige with matching accessories. They both had corsages of pink lady roses.

Mrs. Dallas Huebner, sister of the groom, was in charge of the guest book. Gifts were opened and displayed by Jeanette Dimmick, Cheryl Hillrichs and Carol Feikema, assisted by Raymond Dimmick and Randy DeWall. A reception was held in the church parlors for 150 guests.

Decorations carried out the bride's chosen colors, blue and white. The beautiful all-white five-tiered wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Donald Dimmick and Mrs. Erlyn Cain. During the reception Mrs. Charles VerSteeg sang "Because." Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson of Sioux City were dining room host and hostess.

Mrs. R. C. Anderson and Miss Lillian Degen poured. Mrs. Nick Riser and Miss Ardeth Else presided at the punch bowl. Waitresses were Karen Treiber. Glenda Treiber, Betty Lou Anderson and Yvonne Meske. Kitchen hostesses included Mrs. Frank Feikema, Mrs. Harold Larson, Mrs. Alfred Win and Mrs. Erma Burkhart.

As a going away dress the bride chose a two-piece blue and white knit dress with white accessories. After a short wedding trip to Colorado the couple will reside at 30 West King's Highway in Sioux City.

The bride is a 1961 graduate of the Lutheran School of Nursing, having graduated from Hawarden high school. She is employed as a nurse in the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City. The groom is employed by the Carsten trucking firm.
