A charming wedding occurred last Thursday at high noon at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. H. Hofmeyer of Newkirk when Miss Gertrude Hofmeyer was married to
Mr. Garret Vander Schaaf. The house was beautifully decorated with the
wedding colors, pink and white. The bride and groom were unattended and took
their places to the strains of the Wedding March from Lohengrin. The bride
looked beautiful in a gown of white satin and georgette, carrying a bouquet
of white and pink carnations. After the ceremony a four course dinner was
served. The couple come from families well known in the vicinity of Newkirk,
the bride being the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hofmeyer and the groom
the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Vander Schaaf. Mrs. Vander Schaaf is highly
esteemed and loved by all who know her and the groom is a young man of
sterling qualities, well worthy of his helpmate. The young couple will live
on a farm two miles north of Orange City and will be at home to their many
friends after March 16th.
