This story was taken from page 63 of the St. Joseph Catholic Church Book 1886-1986. It was transcribed by Sarah Theis for the Greater Sioux County Genealogical Society. Some research notes have been added.
John Beckmann was born to Henry and Elizabeth (Klause) Beckmann on January 11, 1875 at New Vienna, Iowa. Henry Beckmann was born in 1849 and died in August of 1931. Elizabeth was born in New Vienna in 1853 and died in 1952.
John married Catherine Rolling. Catherine was born in New Vienna, Iowa on February 28, 1873 and died on January 27, 1935. John died on March 20, 1972. They had nine children.
Lawernce- was born on August 9, 1902 and died on July 24, 1973
Petronella- was born on August 3, 1904 at Granville, Iowa. She married Louis Stoll of Hospers, Iowa. She died on July 21, 1945.
Ray – was born on April 20, 1906. He married Veronica Penning and lives at Wilmont, Minnesota.
Henrietta – was born August 31, 1907 and lives at Granville, Iowa.
Frank – was born November 18, 1908 at Granville, Iowa. He died January 26, 1986. He was married to Nina Pettit and lived at Primghar, Iowa.
Elmer – was born on January 26, 1911 at Granville, Iowa. He married Mercedes Penning. He died November 19, 1985.
Marina – was born at Granville, Iowa on September 19, 1912. She married William Ecker.
Clarence – was born on February 17, 1916 and has retired to Granville, Iowa.
Frances – was born on November 18, 1908 and died in 1919.
John and Elizabeth farmed north of Granville and lived there all their married lives. The couple passed away while residing there.

Her parents were John Bernard Rolling born 1 November 1821 in Hanover, Germany died 12 February 1901 in New Vienna, IA and Anna Maria Halbur born 26 October 1840 in Beelen, Germany died 19 November 1897 in New Vienna, IA. John and Margareta had nine children.

Louis was born 23 January 1900 in Hospers, IA died 20 September 1981 in Hospers, IA. Petronella and Louis had five children, one daughter and four sons. Regina, Norbert, Leo, Peter and Vincent.
3. Raymond Anton Beckmann born 20 April 1906 in Granville, IA died 7 October 1933 in Worthington, MN. Raymond married Veronica Susana Penning 10 February 1931 in Granville, IA. Veronica was born 11 January 1910 in O’Brien County, IA died 3 August 2008 in Adrian, MN. Raymond and Veronica had five children. Harold (Agnes), Joseph (Dianne), Norman, Marie (Myron Onken) and Alvera (Leroy Madison).
4. Henrietta Beckmann born 31 August 1907 in Granville, IA died 6 February 1994 in Granville, IA.
5. Frank Jospeh Beckmann born 18 November 1908 in Granville, IA died January 1986 in Primghar, IA. Frank married Nina Orene Petitt 16 January 1939 in Granville, IA. Nina was born 29 March, 1919 in Sanborn, IA died 18 June in Primghar, IA. They had one daugther, Arlene. Arlene married Ed Brinker and lived in Omaha, NE.
6. Frances Regina Beckmann born 18 November 1908 in Granville, IA died 6 February 1920 in Granville, IA.
7. Elmer John Beckmann born 26 January 1911 in Granville, IA died 3 November 1985 in Orange City, IA. Elmer married Mercedes Mary Penning 13 January 1942 in Granville, IA. Mercedes was born 20 September 1917 in Granville, IA died 7 December 2006 in Orange City, IA. Elmer and Mercedes were the parents of Mary, Joyce, Julie, Dale, Virgil, Roger, Daryl and Thomas.
8. Marina Regina Beckmann born 19 September 1912 in Granville, IA died 12 march 2012 in Orange City, IA. Marina married William Benedict Ecker 14 January 1946 in Granville, IA. Marina and William had two children. Alvin (Monyane) and Wilma (Duncan Pullen).
9. Clarence Joseph Beckmann born 17 February 1916 in Granville, IA died 15 August 1994 in Elm Springs, IA.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville, March 23 for John Beckmann, 96, retired farmer, who died at the Orange City nursing home March 20. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Beckmann was born in New Vienna, January 11, 1875, and moved to Granville 72 years ago. He married Catherine Rolling, January 29, 1904. She died in 1935.
Survivors include five sons, Lawrence, Elmer, Clarence, Raymond; and two daughters, Henrietta and Marina; two sisters, Cecelia and Rose; a brother, Louis; 21 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.OBITUARY of Katharina Margareta Rolling (Mrs. John Beckmann) 1873-1935

Was Granville Resident Since 1901 Mother of Nine Children
Mrs. John Beckman, nee Miss Catherine Rolling, passed away Sunday morning at 4 o’clock following an operation at the Sacred Heart hospital Le Mars. Deceased was born at New Vienna, Iowa. February 28, 1873, and at the time of her death was 62 years of age. She was married to John Beckman on January 29, 1901 and to this union nine children were born, all of whom are still living except Frances. The surviving children are Peteronella, Mrs. Louis Stoll of Hospers; Raymond, Wilmont Minn; Marion, Henrietta, Lawrence, Frank, Clarence, Elmer, all at home.
Mrs. Beckman was a member of St. Joseph’s church here and a member of the Christian Mother’s society. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s church Wednesday morning at 9:30 o’clock. Interment took place at St. Joseph’s cemetery.
Relatives from out of town attending the last rites were Mrs. and Mrs. Louis Stoll, Mr. and Mrs. J.
