Submitter found no ready made biography on the family, some of the sources come from information posted on line by other family contacts and viewed as secondary sources. Example - stated that he died Jun 1906, proved to be Jan 1906.

‘Find A Grave’ lists Adam Haag, born 18 Jul 1826 died Jan 1906 buried St. Anthony’s Cemetery Hospers IA. Wife Phillipina, Children – Anna Belle Hein, Frank Haag, Alphonse Haag, Jacob Haag, Anton Haag, Adam Haag, and Elizabeth Selig.

Adam Haag born 8 Apr 1826 Bavaria died 13 Jan 1906 Hospers, IA. His parents were listed as Frank Haag and Elizabeth Debold. The parents were further identified as Francisci Haag born 19 Jun 1795 Germany and died 1 Jan 1827 at Rheingonnheim, Rheinland Pfalz, Germany and Elisabethae Debold born 11 Jan 1805 Bayern, Bavaria Germany died 15 Jan 1890 New Brunswick New Jersey. Children listed were Franciscus Jacobus Haag 1822-1869 and Adamus Haag 1826-1906. Adam married Philippina Spettle 25 Aug 1850 St. Nicholas Church New York City New York.

An immigration record for Pillippina Spettel age 20 arrived on ship American Eagle in New York 10 Jul 1848. There was a Johann Spettel age 29 also, possibly a brother?
Research to identify lineage of the Spettels followed the trail of John Spettel 1819, her brother.

Found the family of Phillippina’s parents Johannes Spettel born 27 Sep 1774 Volzenhol, Rheinland Pfalz Germany and Catharina Bitz 1780-1863 Among their children was John Spettel 1819-1877 and Phillipina Spettel 1828-1910 married to Adam Haag!!

9 ; Emma Haag born 29 Apr 1876 Sioux County IA Through 1910 she was referred to as Miss Emma, submitter was unable to find much more information. She may have been married to W. H. Kreykes of Heron Lake MN. Later as a widow lived with brother Adam Haag and dau Mageline in Dunklin Union MO.

OBITUARY of Adam Haag source Alton Democrat of Jan 20, 1906
Adam Haag, Senior, one of Hospers oldest settlers and most highly respected citizens died Sunday midnight after an illness of three months from brain trouble. Deceased was born in Bavaria eighty years ago and came to this country when a boy of eighteen. Two years later Miss Phillipina Spettel came from the same town and four years after her arrival they were married in New York City. That was fifty-five years ago last August. After four years in New York they moved to Washington county Iowa. Here they lived till the war broke out and deceased enlisted and served for three years, They left there in 1872 and took a claim two and a half miles east of Hospers where they endured all the hardships of pioneer life. Two years ago they moved to town. Of eleven children nine survive to comfort the mother in her hour of sorrow. They are Jake of O'Brien county, Frank on the old homestead, Mrs. George Selig of Hospers, Mrs. John Hain and Adam junior of Sheldon, Tony of Hospers, Mrs. Nic Stevens of Waterville Minnesota, Alfonse of York Nebraska and Miss Emma at home. The funeral was held Tuesday from St. Anthony's church and drew a large crowd. Adam Haag was a man of fine appearance and character and he and his estimable wife were the kind of people to whom all their neighbors look up. They have a large family of grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The community is the loser by Adam Haag's death and the sympathy of all is with his bereaved family.

OBITUARY of Phillipina Spettle Mrs. Adam Haag Alton Democrat of Jun 18, 1910 Hospers News
On Sunday June twelfth Mrs. Adam Haag died at her home near Hospers having reached the ripe age of 82 years. Mrs. Haag was born in Smeckenhausen, Province Beyeren Germany on July 4th 1828 and came to this country in 1853. That same years she was married in New York. In 1872 she came to Sioux County and lived in this county until she died.
Mrs. Haag was the mother of eleven children nine of whom survive her. They are Jake, Frank, Mrs. George Selig, Anthony and Emma of Hospers, Mrs. John Hain and Adam of Sheldon, Mrs. D. Stevens of St. Paul and Alphonso of York Nebraska. The funeral services were held on Wednesday forenoon form the Catholic church, Rev. Father Geling of Hospers conduction the services. Interment was made in St. Anthony’s cemetery.
Mrs. Haag was one of the pioneer settlers of this county. A large number of friends from different parts of the county attended the funeral. Among those attending from a distance were Mrs. D. Stevens of St. Paul. Alphonso Haag from York NE, Adam Haag of Sheldon and Mrs. Oldenburg from Colridge NE.
