This story was taken from page 112 of the Rock Valley St. Mary’s Catholic Church Book written for the centennial of the church in about 1982(?). The story was transcribed for this BIOS by Beth De Leeuw of the Greater Sioux County Genealogical Society. Some research notes were added.

JOHN KRAMER was born July 3, 1876. On May 14, 1903 at Rock Valley in St. Mary’s, he was married to ANNA KELLEY. She was born on May 1, 1880 at Ottawa, Illinois.
They farmed all their lives until they retired in 1957 and moved to Rock Valley. They had four children: Gladys (see Ripperda), Vernon of Denver, Colorado, Clifford of Doon, Iowa and Agnes (Mrs. Tom McCarty of Alvord). They had 22 grandchildren.
John Kramer passed away December 20, 1970. Anna died July 29, 1967 at the age of 87.

John S. Kramer was born 3 Jul 1876 Worthington, Dubuque IA and died 20 Dec 1970 Rock Valley IA. His parents were Jacob Kramer 1843-1918 and Elisabeth Kremer 1849-1917.
He married Anna Cecelia Kelley born 1 May 1880 Chicago IL died .....

2 . John Vernon Kramer 11 May 1906 Doon IA died 7 Feb 1883 Colorado Springs CO.

OBITUARY FOR JOHN KRAMER
Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church at Rock Valley at 10:30 A.M., December 22 for John S. Kramer, 94, of Rock Valley, who died at the Rock Valley hospital December 20.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Richard E. Zenk and burial was made in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Kramer was born July 3, 1876, at Worthington, Iowa. He was married to Ann Kelly May 14, 1903, at Rock Valley. She died July 29, 1967.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon of Denver and Clifford of Doon; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Ripperds of Rock Valley and Mrs. Tom McCarty of Larchwood; 22 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

At Valley Manor Mrs. John Kramer 91 resident at Valley Manor died Saturday Jul 19.
Kramer Family .-- Has two Deaths In Same Week
The Kramer family was dealt two blows in the past week. William Kramer, 26 ? of Doon was killed in a head-on collision Saturday night. Also Saturday, his grandmother, Mrs. John Kramer, 87, of Rock Valley died at Valley Manor. Mrs. Kramer was buried in Si. Mary's Cemetery in Rock Valley and William was buried in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Alvord on Wednesday. Young Kramer was one of three persons who died as a result of a two-car accident seven miles north of Madison. S.D. on U.S. 81. The cars, one driven by , Kramer, and the other carrying Larry Miller of Howard. S.D. and Cheryl Wetlauder of Winfred, S.D. met head-on on an open stretch of highway. The vehicles were demolished and the three persons suffered multiple injuries.
Mrs. Kramer died of natural causes. She was born on May 1, 1880 in Illinois and died July 29. She was married May 14, 1903 in Rock Valley and farmed near Doon until they retired in 1951 and moved to Rock Valley.
Survivors include the widower; two sons, Vernon of Denver, and Clifford of Doon, two daughters, Mrs. Joe Ripperda of Rock Valley and Mrs. Tom Mc Catty of Larchwood; 22 grandchildren, and 49 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Walter Mc Namara, Walter Vugteveen, Will Buckley, Clem Allen, Ralph Kelly, and Andrew Kippley. William Kramer was born on -March 1. 1941, at Rock Rapids, He was an Army veteran and a member of the Army Reserve. At the time of his death he was employed by a construction firm in Sioux Falls and was on his way home to spend the end with his family.- Survivors - include his patents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Kramer of Doon; three brothers, Gerald of Sioux Falls, and Dennis and Joseph, both at home; and two sisters, Kathleen and Nancy.
