OBITUARY OF JOHN FREMBGEN
Funeral of John Frembgen
The funeral of the late John Frembgen was held from St. Mary's church in this city last Saturday morning and was largely attended by the many friends of the departed man. Services were conducted by the Rev. Father O'Reilly. The floral offerings by the business men of the town and others were beautiful, and showed something of the esteem in which John was held. The order of Foresters attended the funeral in a body and acted as a guard of honor to the bier. The pall bearers were J. J. Shannon, J. H. Schemmer, J. H. Lynch, Thomas Holstern, B. M. Doherty and Jonas Klein. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery, and thus another good citizen has gone. Again we extend sympathy particularly to the bereaved wife and children.
[The Card of Thanks that followed, for kindnesses "during the illness and and at the time of the death of our beloved husband and father John Frembgen" was signed by Mrs. B. F. Fremgen and Children.]

John Frembgen, who was operated on for abcess of the liver some time ago in St. Joseph's hospital, Sioux City, died at the hospital Wednesday last, March 2, at 4 p.m. He was at first supposed to be recovering but erysipelas supervened with fatal results; the remains were brought home Thursday evening; the funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Saturday morning, Rev. O'Reilly celebrating high mass, and preach[ing] an excellent discourse. The obsequies were in charge of the Catholic Order of Forrester, of which deceased was a member, and the business houses in town were closed during the services. The church was crowded to its utmost capacity and a long procession, headed by the Forresters, followed his remains to their last resting place.
He was born in Dickensville, Wis., was 39 years of age and resided in Rock Valley since 1892; was universally respected by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and six small children, besides other relatives, to mourn him.
