Survived by: Husband of 67 years, James Leinen of Denison, IA; sons, Dan (spouse, Pat) of Denison, IA, and Roger (spouse, Glenda) of Newton, IA; grandchildren, Matthew Leinen and Kristyn Leinen; step-grandchildren, Andrea Glawatz and Colby Meseck; 1 great-grandchild; 6 step-great grandchildren; sister, Delores (spouse, Tony) Klein; in-laws, Arlene Pauley; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Fred and Elvera (nee Gessert) Pauley; brother, Michael; in-laws, Linda Daoust, Verlee Leinen, Ursula Bruck, Harvey Leinen, Eunice Blum, and Orville Leinen

Education: Attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Panama, IA and graduated with the Class of 1953. While there, she played on the St. Mary’s basketball team that advanced to the Iowa State Tournament.

Religious affiliation: Baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Panama, IA. While living in Denison, the family were members of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Ladies Guild, helping with funeral meals; she also took care of the church laundry and made many of the Alter cloths.

Marriage: James Leinen; July 17, 1956; St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Panama, IA

Employment: After high school, Dorothy was employed at the Omaha Grain Exchange as well as serving as a nanny for a few local families. After her marriage and she became a farmer’s wife, often helping with the livestock or the crops. Once her sons were in high school, Dorothy spent some time cleaning houses in Denison, IA until she became employed at the Sears Catalog store there for 8 years before retiring in 1996.

Hobbies/Interests: Loved baking, playing cards, and flower gardening; while on the farm, she enjoyed many outings fishing for bullheads in their pond.
