Marriage: Harry Hansen; Aug. 17, 1945; Longview, TX

Employment: Following graduation, Irene was a phone operator and worked at a variety store. When her children were grown, Irene found employment at the Harlan (IA) schools as a school cook and kitchen manager for 20 years

Hobbies/Interests: Was an exceptional seamstress, sewing all of the girls' formal dresses for school dances and countless school clothes. Additionally, she knitted, crocheted and embroidered; after retirement, she also began making crafts, cross stitch, and quilting. In 2013, at the Shelby County Fair, she was awarded Best of Show in needlework for her cross-stitch entry.
