He later started his own trucking company, Doug Griffin and Sons, (later as D & E Trucking Inc). Doug hauled all types of freight from coast to coast for many years before retiring from driving, but remained involved by being a dispatcher.

Hobbies/Interests: Was a huge Miami Dolphins fan, especially watching Dan Marino when he played; enjoyed watching old westerns; particularly enjoyed watching his sons in their many activities; mostly, he enjoyed spending time with family
