Education: Attended grade school and high school at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Panama, IA; graduated with the Class of 1953; She then attended Mercy Nursing Training in Council Bluffs, IA, and received her certificate as a Registered Nurse from there in 1956.

Religious affiliation: Baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, Panama, IA; she remained a life-long member; active member of both St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Knoxville, IA and St. Mary’s in Panama, where she served on the Parish Council, Liturgy Committee, and as a Eucharistic Minister.

Employment: Was employed as a Psychiatric Nurse at the Veteran’s Hospital in Knoxville, IA for 35 years and retired on Jan. 1, 1991. While working there, she was honored as the Nurse of the Year in 1979 and was inducted into the Who’s Who of Nursing in 1988.
