Funeral services: Private family graveside services were held Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, IA. A funeral and celebration of life to be held at a future date after Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

Survived by: Children, Marsha (spouse, Kent) Larson of Las Vegas, NV and Richard Andersen (spouse, Laura) of Jackson, WI; 2 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 step-grandson; 2 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Buehlmann of Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Nancy Axland of Rio Verde, AZ; brothers-in-law, Lowell Andersen and Ed Mills and family; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Theodore and Thelma Axland; husband, Don Andersen (deceased 2018); aunt, Gertie; brother, Ted Axland; sister-in-law, Gloria Mills; brother-in-law, David Buehlmann; niece, Carolyn Finegan

Education: graduated from Irwin (IA) High School; she then attended the Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa); she continued taking classes during the summer while she taught school. Years later she completed her education degree at Dana College, Blair, NE, and graduated in 1972.

Religious affiliation: Baptized and confirmed at St Paul's Lutheran Church, Irwin, IA; Long time members of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA; they served for 10 years in the ELCA Mission Builder program and traveled from Kansas to Minnesota helping to construct ELCA buildings. Was a frequent leader of various bible studies for church.

Marriage: Donald D. Andersen; Dec. 23, 1953; St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Irwin, IA

Employment: After high school, she taught school prior to her marriage; afterwards, she was a farmer’s wife. They retired from farming in 1967 and moved to Harlan. Clarice returned to teaching for the Harlan (IA) Community Schools after completing her degree in education in 1972, until she retired in 1990.

Hobbies/Interests: With her husband, Clarice was active in 4-H and many other organizations; was also a long-time board member of Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, IA and resided the last 4 years of her life there. Known for baking many Norwegian treats
