Education: Attended country school and then attended and graduated from Harlan High School, Class of 1944; he then completed 2 years of college.

Religious affiliation: Active member, Harlan (IA) Church of Christ, where he and Grace both sang in a quartet for nursing home church services

Military service: entered the U. S. Army in May 1951, serving in Germany during the Korean conflict; honorably discharged

Marriage: Grace Marie Corwin; Sep. 3, 1950; Clear Lake, IA

Employment: Farmer; was a skilled blacksmith and carpenter; also drove feed truck for Nelson Farm Supply, Harlan, IA. He retired from farming in the late 1980s.

Hobbies/Interests: Was a licensed pilot in his younger years; enjoyed fishinig
