Education: Graduated from Avoca High School with the Class of 1948; she then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA, and received her teaching certificate.

Religious affiliation: Member, Trinity Lutheran Church, Avoca, Pottawattamie County, IA, and had been the 3-year old’s classroom teacher there for 32 years

Marriage: Wilbur “Bill” Carroll; Feb. 15, 1952; First Lutheran Church, Avoca, IA

Employment: Dorothy taught country school for 4 years before her marriage; became a farmer’s wife after her marriage, helping on the farm and raising their children

Hobbies/Interests: Active volunteer, including with the Shelby county fair agriculture supervisor Fairview Township secretary, the Fairview Funster 4-H club leader, the SCORE program secretary, and as a correspondent for the Avoca Journal-Herald and the Harlan Tribune newspapers. She was inducted in the Shelby County Fair Hall of Fame in 2011; loved being outdoors, parks, picnics and parades
