Education: Graduated from Underwood (IA) High School, Class of 1941; she then enrolled at Jennie Edmondson School of Nursing, Council Bluffs, IA, and took extra classes at the University of Omaha.

Religious affiliation: member, United Methodist Church in Logan, IA and Woodbine, IA

Military service: Enlisted with the U. S. Army Cadet Nurse Corp, from July 1943 to Sep. 1945. She served at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Marriage: Ivan “Ike” Leonard; Dec. 8, 1948; Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, IA

Employment: After completing her education and military service, Zoe spent the next 3 years working at a doctor’s office in Council Bluffs, IA. She then worked as an RN in the OB Ward at the Myrtue Medical Center, Harlan, IA, and the Community Memorial Hospital, Missouri Valley, IA for over 35 years. In 1995, she began working at the Rural Wel-Home Health in Logan, IA. Zoe retired from active nursing duties in 2010.

Hobbies/Interests: Enjoyed ballroom and square dancing; travel; family reunions and sponsoring American Field Service (AFS) picnics; member of numerous organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary, business women’s sorority known as Beta Sigma Phi, the University of Women’s Association, Eastern Star, and the Democratic Party; she volunteered for the American Red Cross and Crime Stoppers
