Survived by: Wife of 67 years, Mary Ann Johnson of Harlan, IA; sons, Tom Johnson (spouse, Simone) of Austin, TX and Ted Johnson of Harlan, IA; grandson, Townes Johnson of Austin, TX; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Seth and Gertie (nee Johnson) Johnson; brothers, Conwell and Duane; sisters, Leone and LaVerne

Education: Attended Wheeler #4 Country School, Sac County, IA; graduated from Odebolt (IA) High School, Class of 1944, and was Senior Class President and Track Captain, and received the American Legion and Danforth Foundation awards. After serving in the military, he graduated from Iowa State University in 1950 with a major in Agriculture Education.

Religious affiliation: Baptized at Arthur Baptist Church, Arthur, IA; member, Congregational Church

Military service: Enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1945 and served in the Pacific Theater; he visited the Atomic Bomb site in Nagasaki, Japan, 2 months after the bomb was dropped.

Marriage: Mary Ann Armstrong; July 13, 1951; Morning Sun, Louisa County, IA

Employment: After he married, he taught Agriculture in Newton, IA and Monticello, IA. He was employed for 17 years for the U. S. Department of Agriculture and for Harlan National Bank. In 1974, they moved to Fort Dodge, IA where he established, taught and coordinated the Banking Program. He worked for 5 years as a debt counselor during the farming crisis.

Hobbies/Interests: Active member in both the Lions Club and the American Legion; enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, bowling, woodworking and collecting antique tools
