Employment: While still in high school, she worked at the Bisgaard Hospital and Wiig’s Dime Store, both in Harlan, IA. After her husband’s discharge from the U. S. Navy, they moved back to Avoca, IA, and both worked for Glenn Best at Best Seed Corn Company near Tennant, IA. After Glenn was killed in a car accident, they worked for Glenn’s wife, Mildred. Frances and Elmer bought some of the farm from Mildred and began farming, and she helped with the farm operation, had a large garden, and raised chickens, in addition to raising their children
Hobbies/Interests: After they retired, they enjoyed camping, going to music festivals, and playing and running an acoustic jam for 14+ years; enjoyed reading, embroidery, and playing cards.
