Employment: Was a farmer’s wife and a homemaker while their kids were at home, and then worked at Denny’s Café and Little Flower Haven Nursing Home, both in Earling, IA. Later, she started her own daycare business, Dorothy’s Daycare, which she ran for more than 17 years.

Hobbies/Interests: Dorothy enjoyed camping and fishing, particularly on family trips to Okoboji, IA. After she and Max retired, they spent winters in Texas, but during the summer, she enjoyed working in her vegetable garden; she was a talented seamstress making children’s clothes and quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing card and dice games, and played the piano and loved to sing, filling their home with music.
