Education: Graduated from Walnut (IA) High School, Class of 1978. After graduation, she then attended Creighton University where she completed one semester of the pharmacy program.

Religious affiliation: Baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Avoca, IA and in her early years, she attended Trinity Lutheran Church; later, she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Walnut, IA, where she was the Sunday School Superintendent for 15 years and a member of the church choir.

Marriage: Kent Douglas Johnk; March 29, 1980; Trinity Lutheran Church, Avoca, IA

Employment: Farmers wife, but was also a banker at Walnut State Bank, Walnut, IA, Oakland State Bank, Oakland, IA, and Rolling Hills Bank and Trust, Atlantic, IA, as a teller, cashier, loan officer, and vice president, totaling 28 years in the banking field.

Hobbies/Interests: As a youth, Carla was a Rainbow girl, learning about the value of charity and service through work and involvement with service projects and, later, carried on that spirit of service and community involvement as an Eastern Star officer for many years. In addition, she was a youth league soccer coach and a softball coach, as well as serving as a 4-H county committee member and club leader. She enjoyed following her favorite sports teams: the Chicago Cubs, Iowa State Cyclones, and Kansas City Chiefs. Mostly, she loved time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
