Survived by: Wife of 62 years, Peggy Brue of Harlan, IA; sons, Kurt Brue (spouse, Linda) of Omaha, NE and Jay Brue (spouse, Mary) of Blair, NE; grandchildren, Meghan (spouse, Brandon) Molitor, Erinn (spouse, Steven) Steffen and Nathan Brue; great-grandchildren, Rorey, Ames and Micah Molitor; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Carl and Mathilda (nee Knudson) Brue; siblings, Harold Brue, Mildred Greiner, Norma Barratt and LaVern Brue

Education: Attended and graduated from the Irwin (Shelby County, IA) Consolidated School, Class of 1946

Religious affiliation: Baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Irwin, IA

Military service: Inducted into the U. S. Army in March 1951, and served as a corporal in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War; he was discharged in 1953

Marriage: Peggy Jean Campbell; Jan. 12, 1957; Irwin United Methodist Church, Irwin, IA

Employment: Was a longtime Irwin, IA businessman and had worked for Western Union, the West-Irwin Agency, and more than 30 years at the Farmers Savings Bank, from which he retired.

Hobbies/Interests: Awarded “Citizen of the Year” in Irwin, IA in 1991; member, Irwin (IA) School Board for 14 years and was a promoter of the Irwin (IA) Senior Citizen Home and served as secretary and treasurer for both organizations; member, American Legion; served on the Irwin (IA) Volunteer Fire and Rescue squad for over 20 years; after he retired, volunteered at Irwin United Methodist Church doing janitorial work and delivering the bulletins to the Kirkman (IA) and Defiance (IA) churches; loved to travel, including overseas and fishing trips to Canada; a sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching high school sports and his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.
