Employment: When she was young, she was employed as a hired girl for several area families; after her marriage, she helped her husband farm and raise livestock. In 1969, they moved north of Ross, IA, and Irene was employed at Kearney Pharmacy in Audubon, IA. She worked at the pharmacy for several years, and then worked as a cashier for the Super Valu grocery store for a few years; after that, she was employed at the Friendship Home in Audubon as a dietary aide for 25 years until she retired at age 75.

Hobbies/Interests: Lifetime member, V.F.W. Auxiliary; enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her specialties, cinnamon rolls and potato salad; was a 4-H Leader when the children were growing up; quilting; visiting with friends and family
