Employment: employed at a local dentist as his assistant in Harlan, IA, and also as a nurses aid in the old Harlan (IA) Hospital; after her marriage, she farmed with her husband. Later, she spent years selling monuments for the Harlan (IA) Monument Works and Shelby County Monuments.

Hobbies/Interests: gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, crocheting, traveling with family; loved writing and was a member of the Writer’s Bloc group of Shelby, IA, as well as the Merry Homemakers, American Business Women and the Knitters Club of Harlan, IA; with Martin, they were founding and longtime members of the Shelby County (IA) Historical Society; as an organist, she played at countless church services, weddings and funerals for more than 50 years.
