Employment: after completing high school, she helped at home while taking correspondence courses for secretarial applications; after her marriage to Dick, she was a farmer’s wife and homemaker while raising their children and took on many of the farming chores after Dick returned to the Citizens Savings Bank. She also helped with the auction clerking business for many years.

Hobbies/Interests: gardening; cooking and baking; playing marbles with her grandchildren; traveled extensively to all 50 states and many countries internationally; she volunteered at the Avoca Nursing Home; spent many hours cleaning at the church; was a charter member of the Knox Project Club, an organization of neighborhood women who took county extension lessons for home and self-improvement; belonged to the Newtown-Avoca Historical Society; Farm Bureau members with her husband.
