Employment: After his military service, Guz returned to Iowa where he owned and operated the Westside Bar, which he later sold. He then worked in road construction as an equipment operator at Quad City Construction, and later moved to and worked in Alabama as a commercial fisherman; when he returned to Atlantic, IA, he worked with Delta Construction and Henningsen Construction. An accident at work forced Guz to retire in 2009.
