Education: Graduated from Atlantic High School in Atlantic, IA, Class of 1953, where he earned varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Attended the University of Iowa from 1953 to 1954, and from 1958 to 1959, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, and then in economics in 1958 from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Alpha.
