Military service: U.S. Army, serving with the Combat Engineers during the Korean War; he received a Purple Heart upon his honorable discharge

Employment: began his farming career on 160 acres southwest of Avoca, IA. He had a large cow-calf operation, hogs raised farrow to finish, and fed fat cattle.
Hobbies/Interests: served on the FHA board; member, American Legion member since his Army discharge; was president of the school board when the present Avoca High School was built. Wallace enjoyed family gatherings, attending church, and spending time with friends at community events.
