Funeral services: Graveside: Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, IA; Pastor Dan Hawn officiated The colors were presented by the Shelby County VFW Post No. 941 and the Harlan American Legion Helmer Reyelt Post No. 150.

Survived by: Wife of 37 years, Dorothy Miller; daughter, Brenda Miller; sons, Kurt (spouse, Kim) Miller and Todd (spouse, Wendy) Miller; step-children, Bob (spouse, Tina) Peckinpaugh, Bill (spouse, Michelle) Peckinpaugh, and Tom (spouse, Sharon) Peckinpaugh; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Glen (spouse, Edith) Miller; sister-in-law, Gladys Miller; brother-in-law, Vincent Nelson; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Nels and Mabel (nee Nelson) Miller; infant siblings, Robert and Ruth; sister, Elaine Nelson; brother, Gene Miller

Education: attended the Harlan (IA) schools and graduated with the Class of 1945

Religious affiliation: possessed a strong, personal faith his entire life.

Military service: inducted into the U. S. Army and served in Livorna, Italy, where he was given the task of tracing the home origin of 10,000 German prisoners of war and arranging for their return home. Honorably discharged in 1947.

Marriages: (1) Donna Jean Jensen; Aug. 22, 1950; location not provided (2) Dorothy (nee Schwarz) Peckinpaugh; March 15, 1975; Phoenix, AZ

Employment: employed by Larson’s Shoe Store for 1 year; then worked for the E. M. Christensen garage in Harlan, IA until the family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1957. There, he was employed as a bookkeeper and office manager for Courtesy Chevrolet for 31 years, and retired in 1992.

Hobbies/Interests: He loved to read God’s Word and he participated in various church activities which provided opportunities to share his God-given talents and enjoy the fellowship of others.
