Funeral services: Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, Congregational United Church of Christ, Harlan, IA; Pastor Donna Ewert officiated. Burial was at the Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, IA.

Survived by: Sister-in-law, Vivian Lytle of Harlan, IA; niece, Gail (spouse, Roger) Goodan of Downey, CA; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Perry and Ethel (Ross) Mayne; husband of 67 years, Wendell (deceased March 13, 2005, Harlan, IA); brothers, Gayther and Darrell Mayne; nephew, William Mayne

Employment: Taught country schools in both Polk and Center Townships (Shelby County, IA) for 2 years after graduating from high school. After her marriage, she farmed with her husband on 4 different farms, all within Lincoln Township (Shelby County, IA). In 1961, Wendell and Virginia moved to Lake City, IA; there, she worked in Farley’s Fabric and Fashion store. They returned to Harlan in 1980.

Hobbies/Interests: was a 4-H Leader for several years; in 1948, Virginia was named Shelby County Farm Bureau Women’s Homemaker of the Year. Member, the Priscilla Society, Harlan, IA; member, the S S Club in Lincoln Township (IA).
