Funeral services: Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, Pauley Jones Funeral Home, Harlan, IA; Pastor Steve Chellew officiated. Burial was at Immanuel Cemetery in Kimballton, IA.

Survived by: Sisters, Ruby Larson of Maple Grove, MN and Amy Gilmore of Denver, CO; brother, John (spouse, Hertha) Haas of Harlan, IA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Haas of Harlan, IA and June Haas of Kimballton, IA; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Adolph and Johanna (Nielsen) Haas; brothers, James, Russell, and Donald Haas; brothers-in-law, Dewey Larson and Morris Gilmore

Education: attended country school at Jackson (IA) No. 9 through grade 8, and eventually earned her GED while living in Colorado

Employment: Worked as a hired girl for area families. After she moved to Colorado in 1944, she was employed to sew sleeping bags for the military. After the end of World War II, she went to work for Wright and McGill in Greeley, CO, and sold fish hooks for 17 years. The next 4 years were spent cooking at a college in Greeley, CO; she was then employed at Bailey’s where she sewed jeans. She later returned to Iowa.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed bowling, watching kids’ softball games, collecting bone china miniature animals, and reading the Family Circus cartoons.
