Arthur Jacobsen
July 29, 1932 - February 22, 2010

Arthur Ronald, son of Harold and Ruth (Brunstedt) Jacobsen, was born July 29, 1932, at Lincoln, Nebraska. The family moved to the Elk Horn and Kimballton Iowa area, and Art graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1951. He was united in marriage with Nadine Joanne Nelson on March 8, 1953, in Atlantic.

Art served in the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1955 and was stationed at Fairbanks, Alaska. Following his discharge, Art worked for a time at Crystal Springs Creamery. In 1957 Art and Nadine moved to the family farm north of Kimballton where he farmed until his retirement in 2000. Art and Nadine continued living on the farm and he helped his sons with farming.

Art was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and AmVets in Kimballton. He loved to read, enjoyed fishing and vegetable gardening, sharing the produce of his garden with family and friends. Art passed away at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, Iowa, on Monday, February 22, 2010, following a long battle with cancer. He was 77 years, 6 months and 24 days of age.

Preceeding Art in death are his parents and grandson Eric Jacobsen; Nadine’s parents Clifford and Selma Nelson; and brother- in-law Gail Nelson.

He is survived by his wife Nadine Jacobsen of Kimballton; six children: Neal Jacobsen (Penny) of Kimballton; Todd Jacobsen (Tami) of Kimballton; Kelly Jacobsen (Michelle) of Elk Horn; Kimberly Soe (Jeff) of Red Oak; Carol Peterson of Elk Horn; Barry Jacobsen (Khristine) of Portsmouth; 14 grandchildren: Marye and Alison Jacobsen; Cody, Abby & Chelsea Jacobsen; Hollie and Tyler Jacobsen; Nicholas, Rachel and Matthew Soe; Heather Peterson; Kali, Megan and Shelbie Jacobsen; great-granddaughter Kassidy Chadwick; sister-in-law Delores Nelson of Atlantic; other relatives and friends.
