Harvey Harold, son of Peter J. and Alvina V. (Henriksen) Greve, was born September 24, 1927 in Jackson Township, Shelby County, Iowa. He attended Monroe #1 Rural School through the eighth grade. Harvey was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. After completeing his schooling, Harvey started farming with his father and hired out to neighbors. Soon after he and his brother Elliot, bachelor brothers, started farming together. After Elliot got married Harvey moved back to the home place and continued farming.

On January 27, 1950 Harvey was united in marriage with Doris M. Jacobsen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton. Upon marriage he became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton where he remained an active member throughout his life. Four children were born to Harvey and Doris. In addition to his lifelong love of farming, Harvey enjoyed playing baseball and softball, even coaching his kid’s little league teams and watching his grandchildren’s games. He also enjoyed polka dancing and waltzing. Pinochle and Jacksonville Pitch were favorite card games. Harvey loved getting the family together for pepperoni pizza at the local Pizza Hut.

Harvey suffered the first of many heart attacks at the age of 49, and was plagued with heart problems from then on. At the end of 2010, his health began to seriously deteriorate and he entered Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, in early March 2011. He died there on March 28, 2011, at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 4 days.

Preceeding him in death are his parents; brothers Elliot Greve and wife Elaine Greve Hoffman and Everett Greve and wives Mabel and Virginia; sister Dorothy and husband Victor Hoogensen and brother-in-law Kenneth Christoffersen.
Harvey is survived by his wife Doris Greve of rural Elk Horn; four children Paulette and husband Charles Boldt of Audubon, Gerry Greve and wife Carrie of Elk Horn, Bryan Greve and wife Janice of Elk Horn and Dave Greve and wife Diana of Harlan; 10 grandchildren: Jason Boldt and wife Ann, Douglas Greve and wife Mary, Kevin Greve and wife Amanda, Sheila and husband Travis Partridge, Stephanie Greve and fiancé Mike Donner, Erin Greve, Nicole Greve, Cyndi Greve, Anna Greve, and Andrea Greve; 8 great-grandchildren: Alyson, Emily and Ainsley Boldt; Shelbi Partridge; Madelyn, Andrew and Evan Greve; and Jesse Greve; sister Elaine Christoffersen of Kimballton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
