Memorial Service
Saturday September 17, 2011, 10 a.m. at Heritage House

Bonnie Jean Greenlief, age 83 , died August 29, 2011 at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Heritage House in Atlantic. Bonnie Jean, daughter of Grover Cleveland and Jenny Ora (Freeman) Ploghoft was born on January 12, 1928 at Lewis, Iowa. After her schooling Bonnie worked as a teacher in Atlantic and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1947.

On December 28, 1949 she was united in marriage with Charles J. Greenlief. They made their home in Phoenix and Bonnie worked as a homemaker. Then from 1985 to 1995, she served as assistant director of the Boswell Hospital Day Care in Sun City, Arizona. In 2001 she returned to Atlantic and in 2008 she moved to Elk Horn.

Bonnie was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Phoenix, Presbyterian Church in Phoenix and the Methodist Church in Lewis. She enjoyed being with children, crossword puzzles, dancing, flower gardening, reading and listening to music.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles in 1993; sister Dorothy Brand and a brother Ronald Ploghoft.

She is survived by her children: Becky Dills (Mike) of Nicholson, Georgia; Carla Cordell (Chuck) of Basehor, Kansas and Dennis Greenlief (Sue); Dianne Smith; Debra Greenlief, and David Greenlief (Kim) all of Phoenix; step son Charles M. Greenlief (Charlotte) of Austin, Texas; 14 grandchildren: Joseph Boyd,Lisa Boyd, Scott Boyd, Chaz McElhaney, Piper McElhaney, Lisa Carrel, Kayla Greenlief, Sean Greenlief, Megan Greenlief, Jason Cordell, Stephen Cordell, Michael Greenlief, Christine Greenlief and Clifton Greenlief; 14 great grandchildren; sisters: Maxine Rhoads of Atlantic; Helen McPherson of Phoenix and Betty Williams of Harlan; brother Ernest Ploghoft of Athens, Ohio; special friend Lavern Alexander of Lewis, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
