Wilfred Elliott, son of Chris and Bertha (Christensen) Eskov, was born September 8, 1923, on the family farm west of Elk Horn, Iowa. On October 21, 1923, he was baptized at Elk Horn Lutheran Church. Wilfred attended school in Elk Horn and graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1941. He then farmed with his family.

In 1949, Wilfred was inducted into the United States Army and served in Japan and Korea until receiving his honorable discharge in 1951. He then returned to Elk Horn and farmed the home place until his retirement in the mid 1990s, when he rented out his land.

Wilfred was a member of Elk Horn Lutheran Church and was a 50-year member of the American Legion. He enjoyed going to town for coffee with friends.

On Sunday, July 9, 2006, Wilfred died at Salem Lutheran Homes in Elk Horn, Iowa, following a brief illness. He was 82 year, 10 months and 1 day of age.

Besides his parents, Wilfred was preceded in death by a sister Edith and her husband Elmer Nielsen; two brothers Albert and Melvin Eskov; a nephew Roger Nielsen and great nephew Aaron Fuhrmann.

He is survived by a sister-in-law Mildred Eskov of Elk Horn; nieces Kathy and husband Ron Block of Harlan and Julie and husband Frederick Fuhrmann of Woodbury, Minnesota; nephews Larry Eskov and wife Becky of Harlan and Alan Nielsen and wife Sue of Richfield, Minnesota; great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Interment Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery Elk Horn, Iowa.
