Died: Dec. 5, 2011, Elm Crest Assisted Living, Harlan, IA

Funeral services: Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, Grace Baptist Church in Harlan, IA; Pastor Joe Earle officiated. Burial was held at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, IA.

Survived by: Daughters, Connie (spouse, Larry) McDermott of Harlan, IA and Luann (spouse, Jon) Hansen of Harlan, IA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Alan Olson of LeMars, IA; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Chris and Emma (nee Rasmussen) Petersen; husband of 63 years, Palmer (deceased Dec. 9, 2004); daughter, Sally Olson; sisters, Eletha Christensen, Rhoda Graves, and Berdine Harris; brother, Mark Petersen

Education: She walked back and forth to Jackson No. 5 country school in Jacksonville, IA, every day. When Delta and her sisters started high school, their dad would get the old Model A started for them so they could get to school. They would have to cover up the radiator with old quilts so it would start after sitting in the cold on winter days.

Religious affiliation: Merrill’s Grove church (Polk County, IA); she taught Sunday School for many years and served as the church clerk.

Marriage: Palmer Louis Wiuff; June 17, 1941; Merrill’s Grove church, ceremony conducted by his father

Employment: Delta worked for a couple families right after high school until she started teaching. She taught for two years at Polk No. 1 (Polk County, IA) until it closed due to lack of students. She also taught for a couple years at Jackson No. 8. In her later years, Delta worked at the Holiday Buffet before purchasing the A & W in Harlan, IA with her husband and sister, Rhoda, in 1966. In 1967, the sisters went to Santa Monica, CA for schooling with A & W. They owned the A & W for 11 years before selling it.
