Education: attended St. Boniface Catholic School, Sioux City, IA, through Grade 8 and continued his education at Woodrow Wilson High School in Sioux City, IA, where he obtained his GED

Religious affiliation: baptized, confirmed, and served as an altar boy at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA

Military service: enlisted in the U.S. Army on Oct. 11, 1951, and served his country during the Korean War. After serving for 2 years on active duty, Don then transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves to complete his 8 years of service.

Marriage: Maryann Delaney; April 2, 1957; Sioux City, IA

Employment: employed at the Oakland Beef plant in Oakland, IA, for 10 years. He started working at Variety Distributors in Harlan, IA, in 1989 and was employed there until he retired in 2004.
