Funeral services: Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, Sep. 13, 2007, St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Panama, IA; celebrant Rev. Bob Schoemann officiated. Burial was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Panama, IA.

Survived by: Wife, Do Waltz of Harlan, IA; foster children, Jeremy and John Wyatt, both of Grinnell, IA, and Jason Wyatt of Panama, IA; brother, Gerald Waltz (spouse, Janice) of Portsmouth, IA; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Leo and Cecelia (nee Goeser) Waltz; sister, Geraldine

Education: attended St. Mary’s High School; after his military service and upon his return to Iowa, he entered Conception Abbey in Conception, MO, and later transferred to Mount Bernard’s Seminary, Dubuque, IA, and was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1966.

Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Panama, IA; was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1966.

Military service: joined the U.S. Marine Corps on Oct. 15, 1956. He achieved the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge in Sep. of 1958

Marriage: Mary "Do" Doyle; June 4, 1975; Des Moines, IA

Employment: After being ordained, he was assigned to Assumption Church in Granger, IA, as an assistant pastor. The following year, he went to St. Michael’s in Harlan, IA, and then in 1968 to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines, IA, where he stayed until 1974. He married in 1975. Vincent continued his ministry at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, IA, from 1983 to 1994. He was also on the pastoral staff at the Newton Correctional Facility in Newton, IA, and the Iowa Prison for Women at Mitchellville, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: Vincent’s hobbies were art and running. He loved to paint and did several still-life portraits. He was also a great potter, making clay pieces that he fired and painted himself. He participated in the U. S. National Senior Sports Classic and the Iowa Games, winning awards in running events during both competitions.
