Education: attended country school near Hancock and Avoca (IA). He also attended high school at Avoca, IA.
Religious affiliation: members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton, IA, where Lenard served on the board several years. They were presently members of the Wiota United Methodist Church.
Military service: After graduation, he entered the military service for 16 months.
Marriage: Annabel Ruth Kintz; Feb. 13, 1950, location not provided
Employment: Most of their married life the couple lived in the Elk Horn – Kimballton (IA) area and farmed. In 1963, they moved to a farm north of Kimballton where Lenard farmed and worked at the Shelby County ASC bin site crew, Elk Horn Farm Equipment, Leistad Construction, Venetian Iron and Mike’s Welding.
Hobbies/Interests: Lenard was self-taught on the accordion, harmonica, keyboard and guitar, playing them all by ear. He also had a passion for making several 1/16th-scale farm toys, building them from scratch, and entered many hand corn picking contests. The couple enjoyed music and dancing, spending many Friday nights at the Corn Crib in Shelby, IA.
